Thursday, December 9, 2010. Today I am grateful for life and for death. Years ago, Dr. Bernie Seigel (working with cancer patients) said that there are worse things than death (such as loss of dignity).

I was really upset at the time (many years ago now) because I thought then that the worst thing was death.

Since then I have discovered that Dr. Seigel was right (of course).

Thank you, Bernie Seigel, for leading the way with respect to the need for dignity for medical patients!
