“Emotional health is the foundation.” ~ Gary Craig

Mildred

Sunday, May 29, 2011. Today I am grateful for Gary Craig who had the courage to learn what works (and what doesn’t) in helping us to find relief from our emotional ills. Gary is the founder of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). I am also grateful for Mildred Thill, whose EFT Workshop I was privileged to attend today. ~ Doc Meek

“I started out as an EFT Sceptic,” by Mildred Thill

“I admit that I approached EFT as a sceptic. When I first started using Emotional Freedom Techniques, I had no indication that it was working for me. In an introductory EFT class, I had picked a really big problem in my life and I had approached it as if it were one part of a small problem. Doing this kind of thing in a large EFT class, without much feedback from the instructor, I did not make any noticeable progress on my issue.  Other people, though, seemed to be getting good results.

“In spite of my early doubts, I decided to suspend my disbelief and to keep using EFT anyway. As I continued with EFT, I gradually came to understand that my particular issue had many different facets and that it was necessary to break the issue into many smaller aspects, dealing with each one at a time.”

Thank you, Gary Craig and Mildred Thill, for sharing your discoveries for emotional health with us!

And for reminding us of what many physicians say: “Emotional issues underlie a high percentage of physical illnesses.”

The EFT Manual (EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) by Gary Craig (Author)

“Forty years ago I realized that the quality of one’s life [is] directly related to their emotional health. Emotional health is the foundation beneath self confidence and self confidence is the springboard to achievement in every walk of life.”

“The end did not arrive . . . red roses instead.” ~ Doc Meek

Image from: http://www.candygram.com/details.php?item=1115

Sunday, May 22, 2011. Today I am grateful that the world as I know it continues, along with some good things. ~ Doc Meek

I was delighted to see a bunch of red roses in the store at a reasonable price, so I brought some home to my wife Jeannette, who put them in a nice vase and we enjoyed their beauty immensely.

Jeannette drove to a nearby town to visit with her sister Rosina and I suggested she take the roses in the vase with her and give them to Rosina to brighten her day. Which she did. And they did.

The reason so many of us are delighted today is that there were some people who were certain the world as we know it would end yesterday, which I commented on in my blog yesterday. Here is that posting if you missed it and would like to read it:

“No one knows when the world will end.” ~ Doc Meek

Thank you to all of you who carried on doing lives of good deeds, or ordinary things, despite dire warnings of “the end” yesterday!

Saturday, May 21, 2011. Today, I am grateful to know that no one knows the time of the “second coming” and/or when the world will end. ~ Doc Meek

I see by media reports that someone is (or some people are) absolutely certain that a worldwide earthquake will occur today, Saturday, May 21, 2011, and that the world (as we know it) will end, that Christ will come, and that the righteous will be caught up to meet Him (the “rapture”).

Since this event is “known” by scriptural reference, here is the relevant scripture from the King James version of the Bible:

“But of that aday and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.” – Mark 13:32

Doc Meek, Saturday, May 21, 2011, Sherwood Park, Alberta, CANADA

P.S. Until “the end” comes (either for me or for the world), I am hoping to continue my purpose in life:

To help children and adults overcome their learning difficulties.

Message from Pat Wyman, Founder, HowToLearn.com

Dear Doc,

Our Official HowToLearn.com ADHD expert, Stephen Guffanti,
M.D., has written a very practical book called, Does Your
Child Really Have ADHD?

He was kind enough to give us a nice long excerpt called
“A Tale of Two Viewpoints” about learning style
mis-matches which includes a deeply personal look into his
own life as a child with ADHD.

I am certain that you will find the information
exceptionally helpful and there is a video as well on
one of Dr. Guffanti’s patient’s, Charley.

“Higher voter turnouts strengthen democracy.” ~ Doc Meek

Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Today I am grateful that 61% of Canadian voters turned out to vote. We need the historic highs of 79% to better serve democracy I think. ~ Doc Meek

The Right Honourable
John Diefenbaker
PC, CH, QC
Half-length photo portrait of a man aged about 60. He has a square face, strong jaw, firm lips and piercing pale-coloured eyes under thick arched eyebrows. His full head of curly hair is streaked with grey, cut short and combed back smoothly with hair oil. He wears a neat suit and tie, and holds a document, looking at the camera with a penetrating stare.

Election voter turnout higher than 2008, but near historic lows
By Patrick Cain, Globalnews.ca: Tuesday, May 3, 2011 10:36 AM
.
TORONTO – About 61 per cent of eligible voters cast ballots last night, a total roughly in line with Canada’s four other 21st-century elections.
The total was higher than in the 2008 election, in which a record low of 58.8 per cent of eligible voters showed up at the polls.
.
Voter turnout has been falling generally in every election since 1979 [Trudeau’s interregnum year when Joe Clark was Prime Minister for a few months]. Before the 1972 election, turnout often reached 79 per cent.
.
The 1958 election that brought John Diefenbaker to power had the nation’s highest-ever turnout, at 79.4 per cent.
.
………………………….
Thank you, Patrick Cain and Globalnews.ca, for so succinctly summing up the “voter turnout” issue!

“Even after nearly a quarter of a century, Albert remains motivated by one thing: to help families in a time of need.” – Roger Oxendale, Children’s Hospital President and CEO

“Every Tuesday and Thursday for the last thirty years, Albert Lexie has left his home at 5:50 in the morning to travel ninety minutes by bus to the Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, so he can shine shoes in the hospital’s lobby. He uses the very same shoeshine box he built in high school shop class when he was only fifteen years old. Albert charges $3 per shine and donates all his tips to the Children’s Free Care Fund, which ensures that all children receive medical care, regardless of a family’s financial ability to pay for it.

“Since 1981, Albert has donated over $100,000 of his hard-earned tips to the Children’s hospital. His annual income is only about $10,000 and he donates approximately $10,000 a year to the hospital.

“Albert is a remarkable example of the value of charity—he truly is an everyday hero.”

…………………………..

Thank you Albert Lexie for your kind and generous example to the rest of us who earn far more than you do!

Those who set out to heal the world, may lose themselves.

Those that set out to heal themselves can heal the world!

– Thomas Bien

I commented on Catherine Wilkes website as follows:

“Catherine,

“Thank you for the nurturing reminder from Thomas Bien that we need to replenish our own souls when we set out to nurture the souls of others. This reminds me of the story of the man who tried to change the world and found that the only person he could really change was himself.”
