We were standing in the long last-minute Christmas lineup at the post office in South Jordan, Utah, USA.
I was looking at the mailing boxes for sale in the post office when I spotted a big brown bubble envelope slumped out of sight where it was not likely to be noticed. I brought it to my wife Jeannette.
I told Jeannette that I wasn’t sure what to do with it. Obviously it had been dropped or forgotten.
It was addressed to the grandkids in Seattle, Washington, USA, return-addressed from “Grandpa” at a local street address. No postage stamps on it.
Jeannette said, “It’s for Christmas clearly. If we take the time to track down “Grandpa” (no name), it’ll be past Christmas.”
Jeannette, who is a softie for grandkids and grandpas, said, “I’m going to mail it, like “Grandpa” intended, so his grandkids will get it for Christmas.”
“But what if…?” I started, ever the possible-problem-oriented. Jeannette raised her hand.
Needless to say, when we got to the head of the long Christmas lineup, she mailed it, happily paying the nine-dollar postage.
That’s my sweetheart! Mrs. Santa Claus for sure! 😮
