Thursday, October 7, 2010. Today I am grateful for teacher-leaders extraordinaire, such as Sheila Watt-Cloutier, a Canadian Inuit who has spent her life teaching about, and working for, the protection of human rights in relation to the environment.

.
“
Sheila Watt-Cloutier,
OC (born 2 December 1953) is a
Canadian Inuit activist. She has been a political representative for Inuit at the regional, national and international levels, most recently as International Chair for
Inuit Circumpolar Council (formerly the Inuit Circumpolar Conference). Watt-Cloutier has worked on a range of social and environmental issues affecting Inuit, and has most recently focused on
persistent organic pollutants and
global warming. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work, and has been featured in a number of documentaries and profiled by journalists from all media.”
.
The Globe and Mail is recognizing Sheila as one of 25 “Making a Difference” by immeasureably improving the lives of others, in Canada and worldwide in this case. “I have always engaged in the politics of influence rather than the politics of protest.” – Sheila Watt-Cloutier. (See The Globe and Mail, Tues, Oct 5, 2010.)
.
Sheila’s book, The Right To Be Cold, is one of the treasures of the earth!
.
Thank you, Sheila! Our hats are off to you!
