Thank you, Piper Mackay! I’ve been helping children and adults overcome learning
difficulties of all kinds for more than 30 years now. The one thing I learned very
early on is that it is the mothers that are the anchor, mothers that carry the freight,
mothers that make a difference in the lives of their children and their families.

“Gratitude for Day of Thanksgiving.” – Doc Meek

Tuesday, October 12, 2010. I am grateful for Canadian Thanksgiving Day yesterday (2nd Monday in October), an “official” opportunity to celebrate with our families and friends our multitudinous blessings in Canada, similar to our multitudinous blessings in the United States, whose Thanksgiving Day comes later (4th Thursday in November). – Doc Meek, a citizen of both Canada and the United States.

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day (Canadian French: Jour de l’Action de grâce), occurring on the second Monday in October (since 1959), is an annual Canadian holiday to give thanks at the close of the harvest season. Although the original act of Parliament references God and the holiday is celebrated in churches, the holiday is now mostly celebrated in a secular manner.

“On January 31, 1957, the Canadian Parliament proclaimed:

A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed … to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October.

“Canadian Thanksgiving coincides with Columbus Day in the United Statesand the Dia de la Raza in most of Latin America.”

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had the humility and teachability to learn to recognize and speak our gratitudes and our thanksgivings every day, many times a day? 😮

Thank you to those who originally gave thanks as pioneers!
